There are many examples of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom IIs on display around the world, often in aviation museums and at facilities that once operated the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II.

- RAAF Museum, Melbourne - An ex-USAF F-4E painted to represent one of the examples flown by the RAAF while awaiting delivery of the F-111.[1]

- Austin, Texas - An F-4C with tail number 40712, AF Ser. No. 64-0712, is displayed on the eastern boundary of Camp Mabry along Texas State Highway Loop 1.
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana - An F-4 is located at American Legion Post 38.
- Columbus, Indiana - An F-4C, serial number 64-0844, is on display at Columbus Municipal Airport (Bakalar).[9]
- Charleston, South Carolina - An F-4C is on display on the campus of The Citadel.
- Charlotte, North Carolina, Two F-4S aircraft from VMFA-235 at MCAS Kaneohe Bay are on display at the Carolinas Aviation Museum at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
- Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona - An F-4 is on display at the Davis-Monthan AFB Memorial Park located on base across from Headquarters, 12th Air Force. There are also a dwindling number of USAF, USN and USMC F-4s and RF-4s in AMARC storage on base.[10][11]
- Dannelly Field Air National Guard Station, Alabama - An F-4D, AF Ser. No. 66-7745, in the markings of the 187th Fighter Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard is on display on the grounds of the Dannelly Field ANGS at Montgomery Regional Airport.[12]
- Duluth International Airport, Duluth, MN - An F-4D Phantom II is on display outside of the Duluth International Airport Main Passenger Terminal. The F-4 flew with the 148th Fighter Wing before its retirement.
- Dyess Air Force Base, Texas - An F-4D, AF Ser. No. 65-0796 is displayed on base in the Dyess Linear Air Park.[13]
- Eglin Air Force Base, Florida - Two Phantom IIs, an F-4D and RF-4E, are on display at the Air Force Armament Museum near Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.[14]
- Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville, Oregon. An F-4C, AF Ser. No. 63-7647, formerly of the Oregon Air National Guard with 1 confirmed MiG kill in Vietnam, is on display.
- Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas - An RF-4C, AF Ser. No. 69-0367, is on display on the corner of Kearney Blvd and Canberra St W.
- Havelock, North Carolina - An RF-4B is on display at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center adjacent to MCAS Cherry Point.[15]
- Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii - An F-4C is on display along the flight line near the east gate of Hickam AFB, HI.[16]
- Hickory Aviation Museum, operated by the Hickory Sabre society North Carolina - An early F-4B which flew in the Cuban Missile Crisis prior to retirement.
- Hill Air Force Base, Utah - Multiple variants of the F-4 are on display at the Hill Aerospace Museum and at multiple locations around Hill AFB.
- Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida - An F-4D is on display as a gate guard at the main entrance to the base.
- Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum - An F-4N, which served in the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323 (VMFA-323), is on display on the flight deck. It is on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS Pensacola, Florida.[17]
- Lackland Air Force Base, Texas - An F-4E is on display near the west gate at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas.
- MacDill Air Force Base, Florida - An F-4E is on display on base at MacDill Memorial Park. The aircraft is painted in the colors of the 56th Tactical Fighter Wing when it was based at MacDill.[18] [19]
- March Air Reserve Base, California has three USAF F-4s on display at the March Field Air Museum. They include an F-4C, an F-4E and an RF-4C.[20]
- Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina has an F-4S on display.
- Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina has an RF-4B on display in front of the air station's officers club.
- Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California - The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum has an RF-4B from VMFP-3 and an F-4B from VMFA-134 on display.[21]
- Marine Corps Base Hawaii - An F-4S from VMFA-212 is on display at the main entrance near the main gate.
- Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama - An F-4 is on display in Education Circle.
- Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho has an F-4D on display in the base park, as well as an RF-4C formerly used for training in unusable storage
- Robins Air Force Base, Georgia - the Museum of Aviation has two USAF F-4s on display: an F-4C[22] and an F-4D[23]
- Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina - An F-4E painted in the 4 TFW colors from the 1980s.
- Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina - An RF-4C is on display on base. The aircraft is painted in the colors of the 363d Tactical Reconnaissance Wing when it was based at Shaw.
- Texas Air Museum, Stinson Chapter, San Antonio : F-4C, AF Ser. No. 63-7415, being restored from BDR platform to Southeast Asia camoflauge paint scheme and Kadena AB fin flash markings

- Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada has an F-4N, BuNo 151510, U.S. Navy on display at the Air Power Park in the markings of VF-161 embarked aboard USS Midway.
- Naval Air Station Key West, Florida has an F-4N on display in the markings of VF-171.
- Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia - An F-4J is on display on base at the NAS Oceana Aviation Heritage Park.
- Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland - An F-4J is on display at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum on base.
- Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida - Multiple examples of the F-4J, F-4N, F-4S and RF-4B are on display or in storage at the National Museum of Naval Aviation.
- Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California - F-4S, BuNo 157259, is on display at the Point Mugu Missile Park.
- Naval Air Facility El Centro, California has an F-4B on display in the markings of a Blue Angels aircraft.
- Murrieta, California - Phantom II F4H-1, BuNo 145310, U.S. Navy,[24] is located at French Valley Airport, Murrieta, California.[25]
- Patterson, Louisiana - An F-4 is located at the Louisiana State Museum.
- San Diego, California - USS Midway has two F-4s on display.[26][27]
- San Diego, California - The San Diego Air and Space Museum has an F-4J on display in the center courtyard. The aircraft carries the markings of VF-96 aircraft "Showtime 112" as flown by then-LT Randy "Duke" Cunningham and then-LTJG Willie Driscoll. This is the exact aircraft flown for their first two kills.
- St. Louis, Missouri- An F-4E from the 131st Fighter Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard sits outside of the unit's original building at the former Lambert Field Air National Guard Base at Lambert St. Louis International Airport. This F-4E is notable, both for shooting down a MiG during the Vietnam War and being located adjacent to the former McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, production plant from where it was built.
- Fremont, Colorado - An F-4C is on display at the Fremont County Airport. [28]
- Patriot's Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, SC has an F-4S Phantom II on display on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown (CV-10).
- Pooler, Georgia - An F-4C is on display outside in the parking lot of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, Georgia.[29]
- Pekin, Illinois - A former Illinois Air National Guard F-4C is on display at Pekin Municipal Airport [30]
- Fort Wayne, Indiana - An F-4E is on display as a gate guard for the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard at Fort Wayne International Airport/Air National Guard Base.
- Monett, Missouri - An F-4E in Thunderbird markings is on display in the city park, near the intersection of MO-37 & US-60.
- Cleveland, Ohio - Two F-4 Phantoms are displayed at the entrance gate at Burke Lakefront Airport. The Phantoms are painted as examples of U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aircraft.
- Heath, Ohio - Single F-4 on outdoor display at Newark-Heath Airport
- Houston, Texas - One aircraft, an F-4D, is operated by the Massachusetts-based non-profit organization Collings Foundation as a "living history" exhibit.[31][32] Funds to maintain and operate the aircraft, which is based in Houston, Texas, are raised through donations/sponsorships from public and commercial parties.[33][34]
- Seattle, Washington - A F-4C Phantom II is on display at the Museum of Flight, Seattle, Washington.[35]
- Springfield, Illinois - One F-4E stands on display in front of the Air National Guard installation at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.
- United States Air Force Academy, Colorado - An F-4C is located on the Cadet Parade Ground of the USAFA campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
- United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland - An F-4B is on display on the USNA campus.
- Washington, D.C. - Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Institution has an F-4S of VMFA-232 on display.[36]
- Bloomington, Illinois - F-4N Phantom II, BuNo 150444 of VF-161 is on display at the Prairie Aviation Museum.[37]
